From the time she was a little girl in California, Helen loved baking. Under the loving instruction of her mother, she learned her way around the kitchen, and would serve up her homemade treats to her parents’ friends and business associates. Her passion for baking continued throughout her life, and now has spawned Helen’s Irresistible Cookie Bouquets, LLC, a unique little bakery near the heart of Dallas. After several professional careers, marriage to her husband James, children and grandchildren, Helen was finally able to bring her delectable delights to this commercial location, and her goodies are virtually going all over the world, one order at a time. It all started about seven years ago, when as a transplanted Texan, Helen and her family would have those traditional Southern family get-togethers where everyone would bring a favorite dish. She would hear people talking, especially the old-timers, that no one bakes old fashion tea cakes like Granny and their ancestors did. Oh some made an attempt, but they fell short of the tasty treats of yesteryear. So Helen decided to try and revive this 100 year old tradition, the right way, and started collecting recipes. After much experimentation, she added her own blends and spices, using the freshest ingredients possible, and finally felt she got it right—ones in which Grandma would be proud, and ones that were simply impossible to resist, with kind of a soft,

cake-like quality, with just the right touch of flavoring. At the next family gathering, everyone-raved about them! The old-timers claimed “This is it! These are the real, old-fashioned tea cakes that no one seems to be able to duplicate”! Other words like “addictive taste”, “irresistible”, and “tantalizing” were being used and people claimed she could sell thousands of them. So Helen knew she had a winner and the recipe is now a trade secret. Word of mouth spread like wildfire and more and more requests for the scrumptious tea cakes came pouring in. In fact, in September of 2006, Helen’s tea cakes and the Butler family reunion were featured in Ebony Magazine, which drew even more orders. So after much hard work and steady growth, it was time to take it to the next level, and open a bakery to be able to keep up with the demand, and to expand her business even further around the world.

Helen then added another specially crafted and unique concoction, her “Gourmet Chocolate, Chocolate Chip with Pecans” that are as delectable as her tea cakes. And soon, she plans to introduce organic desserts, like cookies and cakes, adding one new treat about every three months. She makes everything from scratch and has had to add equipment to meet the demand, while yet making sure everything is still hand made. She has the help of two associates, Cherie Minnieweather and Portia Dorsey, who will help run the bakery. Helen’s husband, James, is the overseer of trafficking, delivery contracts, maintenance, and making sure Helen and her little bakery can be all they can be. He’s simply “amazed at her entrepreneurial spirit and how she has made her vision into a reality”. Helen’s goal is “to become a household name” and with quality like this, and with the love and care that goes into each yummy dessert, surely she’s on her way.
